The element 'Silicon' was discovered by Jons Jacob Berzelius.
Berzelius was a Swedish chemist ans is now together with John Dalton, Antoine Lavoisier and Robert Boyle,
considered the fathers of modern chemistry.
Silicon was found in the year 1824 in Sweden. Silicon's name is from the Latin word "silicis" meaning "flint".
Pure Silicon is not found in nature, but it makes up about 25% of the Earth's crust.
Silicon can be found on beaches, in Opals, in Amethyst Gemstones, or in Agates.
This element also exists in the human skeleton or in the ashes of plants.
